SLAM! is about a high school basketball player and his life on and off the court. The book highlights how friendships can be made or broken on the court. “When he left, he didn’t say good-bye to anybody, just picked up his book bag and his horn and went.”(Myers, 15) As the player struggles with life his basketball life suffers as well.
South Asia Travel Guide is a guide to travel. This book covers Indonesia, Burma, Ceylon, India, Pakistan, and Nepal. This book covers major information on the country, important locations, and tourist policies. An example of Pakistan’s required traveler information, “Pakistan: British subjects or holders of British or Commonwealth passports, with the exception of Indians and citizens of the Union of South Africa, do not need a visa.” (Caldwell, 15)
Admiral Of the Pacific, The Life of Yamamoto is a non-fiction book of the life of Isoruku Yamamoto. This book follows his life from childhood to Admiral. “But now both his parents were dead Isoruku felt he could respond to the Yamamoto invitation.”(Potter, 15) Void of his family ties Isoruku was allowed to study the ways of the navy without interruption.
The Wandering Falcon is a story about a boy’s life as he wanders between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The regions are ravaged by war and the boy sees things that would haunt most people. The places the person lived were attacked, sometimes unexpectedly, “His arrival was so unexpected that it left them no time to hide.” (Ahmad, 15)
